Abstract

Panglong Cemerlang is a building materials trading business located in Beringin District, Deli Serdang Regency, where sales transactions were previously recorded manually using handwritten invoices and sales ledgers. This manual process resulted in slow service, data duplication, and a high risk of recording errors. This study presents the analysis and development of a desktop-based sales information system to improve data accuracy and transaction speed. The system was developed using Visual Basic 2010 as the programming language and Microsoft Access as the database management system. The development process involved system analysis, Context Diagram creation, Data Flow Diagram (DFD), Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD), database design, interface design, and flowchart modeling to ensure structured data integration. The implemented system includes features for login authentication, master data management (items, employees, and administrators), sales transaction processing, and automated report generation. The implementation results indicate that the system reduces manual recording errors, eliminates duplicate data entry, accelerates transaction processing time, and enables real-time report generation. Therefore, the desktop-based sales system enhances operational efficiency, improves data accuracy, and supports managerial decision-making in small and medium-scale trading businesses.
